If you’re wracking your brains as to what you should do for Mother’s Day, you might get some inspiration from my ‘lunch with a twist’. I am not sure what I was most excited about; the idea, cooking, eating all the food, hosting my first luncheon or sharing it with all of you. Recipes will be shared throughout this week, but first I have to tell you all about the lunch and how it came about.

My Mom passed away late last year
and with Mother’s Day coming up, I wanted to do something to honour her in some way. My Mom was renowned for hosting, entertaining and more so for the food she always put forward. She was a master at cooking and thankfully she taught me a hell of a lot!
Reflecting over the many meals I was taught got me thinking; my Mom’s not the only one who has imparted her worldly cooking wisdom on to her child. So in honour of my Mom, I hosted a lunch and served food she taught me how to make. Each person invited had to also bring a dish or two of something their Mother taught them how to make.
When I come across people that love cooking and eating just as much as me, I kind of make sure I hold on to them for dear life. My guests invited love eating and cooking, and they come from all walks of life and different cultures. I must say, I don’t think I could have rallied up a better crowd; as it’s best said by Julia Child, “People who love to eat, are always the best people.”
Each person came to the table with two dishes, and put a lot of effort in making this Mother’s Day lunch a complete success. I have to send a “shout out” to Soraya, Maria, Janine and Melissa for making this ‘eat fest’ happen.
The table was set and knives and forks at the ready; this lunch was for serious food eaters! It felt like Christmas Day(which might I add is one of my favourite days of the year – purely because of all the food people bring). A special table was set aside to pack all the savoury meals on, and all that was left to do was to dig in! Boy-oh-boy did we dig in! I can safely say, we all felt like stuffed potatoes after tasting a bit of each savoury dish, and then finishing the lunch off with some deliciously delightful desserts!
With all this shared, I hope I have inspired some of you to do something special for your Moms this year. If you’re looking to cook or bake something for her, there are tons of beautiful recipes coming up from this lunch. For more pictures of the lunch go to www.facebook.com/StuffedFeeling
